Up Against the Walmarts

This is not a NEW book but we always need to learn from HISTORY (or we'll be doomed to forget it!) This book has a fabulous array of valuable marketing ideas for businesses. It explains how to prosper "in the shadow of the retail giants." Take a look at our American landscape these days, and you'll see the Big Box Retailers in almost every part of our country. This book covers an incredibly important topic for everyone who is not a big box merchant. Its ideas can be adapted or utilized by small, mid-sized and large businesses to out-strategize the competition. Be sure to check it out!

Stay off the rocks in business!
Why should you think about these marketing questions we're sharing? It's important to stay off the rocks in business and steer towards calmer waters...... which you can do when you've really thought about your business and where it stands in the world today.
Now's a very good time to answer question #2...
What are the specific goals of your marketing? Your goals should be realistic, specific and measurable. If you set marketing goals every year, now’s the time to review and adjust them.
Any questions? Don't hesitate to contact us!
Here's Marketing Question #1. Did you find a nice place to think about it?Analyze your competition locally, regionally, nationally and globally. Identify and evaluate their marketing strategies. Here are some questions you should think about regarding your competitors to do this type of analysis: who are they, where are they located, what do they sell, what do you perceive as their strengths and weaknesses, what are their pricing strategies, what customer services do they offer, how are they distributing their products, what is their brand and positioning vs. your own? What is your competitive advantage distinguishing you from your competitors? Check out your competitor websites, evaluate their ads, PR mentions in the newspapers, trade magazines, industry reports, etc. and begin to compare them in a chart with your own company’s strategies
The Big Picture
Marketing is what drives business. It is responsible for finding, serving, and keeping customers. Without marketing, your business would not exist! Many of us often feel that we are too busy with day to day work challenges to stop and carefully consider some key marketing questions. Take this time and you’ll be well rewarded. The answers to these questions can significantly improve your business profitability in the coming years. In the Brickman Blog, we're going to offer you some important questions to answer…ideally in a location where you won’t be interrupted. Why not schedule your own company retreat just by yourself!
Depending upon your work style, choose to begin this task in a space outside of your office. Your backyard can be a viable spot if you can have privacy and it’s quiet. There are also many beautiful spots within the world that can nurture your creativity. Find the best possible place that suits your work style, and be sure to bring along some snacks, a laptop, and pen and pad. You will want to select a location that will give you a big picture ...because that’s how you want to look at your business during this project. It may take several sessions so perhaps pick a new spot for each question we share with you. Enjoy the time spent contemplating some gorgeous scenery and the intricacies of your business! It's well worth your time. Any questions, contact us!
